The credit card AT&T had for my iPad declined the charge when my unlimited data plan was about to expire (24 hours prior to date). I changed the card information but the unlimited option is no longer available. Here's what I found out from AT&T.

- credit card will be charged 24 hours before the plan expires.

- If card was declined, I will have to manually select a plan after current plan expires.

- Unlimited plan will not terminate unless I change it or cancel the auto renewal.

- changes to credit card info will not terminate unlimited plan.

- I have 7 days after unlimited plan expired to renew it. After that, I will have to pick a new plan.

Hope this helps.

They sent me an email advising me that my credit card payment failed. I called them this morning worrying that I would lose my unlimited data plan.

But yet, the email they send you upon renewal still states they will not charge you until TWO HOURS before the renewal. Which just ticks me off that they can't even update their own TOS email to reflect what they are really doing. I figure i'll just use that if they decide to cancel me for some reason.

Glad you got it sorted out without losing it. This month was going to be my only "close" month on the timing and it worked out ok for me.

My unlimited just renewed. I had to change my cc info a few days ago and was wondering if I'd have problems keeping the unlimited plan. However, it all went through fine. I also noticed their email says they will renew 2 hours before expiration, but mine was renewed a couple of days before. So be aware if you need to update your info you should do it ahead of time.

Do they actually do the renewal 2 days in advance (as in charge your card) or do they just get approval and hold funds? If the latter is the case, it might actually be a good thing, as it gives you a heads up that there might be a problem. But knowing AT&T, it is the former.

Mine was slighty more than 24 hours this past Saturday. It was the full charge and not just a hold.

They tout that you can cancel up to two hours before the charge in the email they send you, however that is not the case. The 24ish hours seems to be an improvement over last month however, when a number of people mentioned it was closer to 48 hours.

Don't see the charge listed yet, but it usually takes a couple of days. I'm pretty sure they charged it before I got the email confirmation.
