"It seems there are various new tariffs available including the iphone from the 26th February according to O2 staff members who post on here. No details announced as yet apart from one of the options being unlimited texts. They will be online from the 26th of this month."

If true, this would make sense, as the O2 tariffs will be brought in line with vodafone's...

Good find Oon!

Just to throw it out there... the 26th would be a friday right?

Release date Original:Friday June 29, 2007
3G:Friday July 11, 2008

New iphone o2 plans released

http://shop.o2.co.uk/promo/iphoneindex/Pay_Monthly/3G_S

Looks good, and would be especially good for me, who uses more texts than minutes!

Im currently on the £35 a month plan, with 600 mins and 500 minutes, and I payed £273 for the phone.

What are my chances of calling o2 and getting moved onto the new plan?

I mean, its the same monthly payments and I paid more upfront at the begining of the contract!

Anybody?

I believe as long as you are at least 9 months into your contract you can call and change tariffs as you wish, even go to a lower one, I assume before 9 months you can make a sideways step to a same value tariff or go up in value but I've never tried, I'm sure someone else can confirm that?

I'm hoping they won't automatically change everyones tariffs? I want to stay on 500 texts solely because I use my phone outside the UK and take advantage of 4 bundled texts to send a text from abroad. I've gone over my allowance a couple of times, but still less than it would cost me if I had to pay for all my overseas texts.

The £20 one appears to have changed to 300mins/unlimited from 600/1200. Personally I think that is worse.

What happens if you are already on one of these tariffs do you keep what you have or do you get "upgraded"

you have to switch to a iphone simplicity 12 month contract to get 600mins/unlimited for £20.

it seems as though O2 are really pushing for us to take out the longer contracts now... though having a 24 month contract, especially with the iphone, is great if apple continue to upgrade the iphone annually. compared to the 18 month contracts we have to wait 6 months once the contract has ended before the new iphone is released. i much prefer spreading the cost of the iPhone over a longer period of time than paying a greater sum upfront.

I'm currently on the old iphone simplicity 20£ with the unlimited text bolt on, so thats £27.50 a month for 600mins/unlimited texts/300 picture messages or abroad texts... but worked out it was like £230 cheaper to go on the 24 month £35 iphone contract on a 16gb than just to pay upfront for a pay-go iphone and keep my simplicity...

So come june/july or whenever, ill upgrade to £35 mnth/24 mnths. :)

The unlimited texts on the normal iPhone contract deals is very welcome! Just yesterday it was only 500 per month even on the £75 tariff!!! Im very heavy texter so this is music to my ears :D

My understanding is that you can change to a higher tariff anytime and to a lower one after 9 months.

I like the new tariffs. I'm on the borderline for calls between two tariffs at the moment. Just enough to have to be careful but not enough to be worth an extra £5 a month.

I didn't see anything about whether this will apply to existing contracts or just new ones. No big deal, mine runs out in the summer.

I'm on iPhone 35 a month, 24 months. 500 texts, 600 mins, unlmtd internet. I'm only a month into the contract and rang them up and asked to transfer to the unlimited texts and they have done it for me and it'll kick in on my next bill date. Couple of points...when you call Voicemail it takes it out of your allowance and texts abroad cost you instead of using 4 texts for one. Neither i'm too bothered about to be honest.

Yeah i noticed the voicemail thing but i use it maybe 10 minutes out of every month anyway so its not a big deal for me. Same with the internationals texts. I use over 1000 texts a month so thats where the big saving comes in for me

Just swapped Tariffs. :) I was 8 months into the original £35.00 per month 600 minutes and 500 texts. I called them today and they swapped it for the new tariff so I now get 600 mins and unlimited texts. Whats more next month I can downgrade to the £30.00 per month tariff (still with unlimited texts) as my 9 months period will be up and I am then eligible to reduce it.

Give em a call if your still on the old tariff. For the sake of a phone call you get unlimited texts. :)

So if i read that correctly if you swap plans at all now you will lose the 4 txts for MMS & 4txts for OS deal? I'd like to swap to a cheaper plan, but I travel alot so don't fancy paying for every txt I send whilst overseas..

Yes MMS is now charged separately from your unlimited texts as is overseas texts
