iPhone Unlock 3gs with 05.16.05 baseband made in week 36 of 2011?

I have gotten my hands on a 8gb 3gs 5.1.1 with 05.16.05 baseband. I am trying to unlock this phone. Problem is the serial number is 84136.... so this phone was produced in week 36 of 2011. From what I read online is that if I downgrade to 05.16 ipad baseband I can brick this phone. Is there any way around this or should I just take my chances?

U must be referring to upgrade to 6.15.00
Unfortunately yours is right there on the margin. I would not recommend it. I flashed one awhile back and lost wifi, Bluetooth and baseband; basically I was left with a paperweight.

Any 3GS made after the 27th week of 2011 is subject to being ruined if you attempt to flash iPad baseband.
