the iPhone isn't going to work for sprint even if it is unlocked because it's a gsm phone.

It won't work with Sprint and the $200 price tag is the 2 year contract price.
It's still $600-$700 for a no contract iPhone... and those are not even available yet.

I have sprint and I want to unlock a 3G iPhone. So I want to get some opinions and feedback.
i am so glad i waited to get an iPhone! i feel sorry for the people to just HAD TO BUY as soon as it came out it when it was $700!!
this one is far better and only $200!

for instance what do you guys think of this?

Nothing has been publically released that allows you to unlock the 3G...

I presume at this stage that any iPhone (3G or 1st Gen) cannot ever be unlocked by tradtional means.

Which is my mind is a code which can entered on the keypad which is generated via the IMIE number of the handset.

Will unlocking always involve hacking the software? Also can someone not obtain an unlocked firmware from say an iPhone in France/Hong Kong and replicate it somehow?
