Unlock note on other devices?

I have a locked note on my iPad. I’d like to open it on my iPhone, but when I try I get asked for the password. I have both devices set up with a notes password - the same one - so I don’t know what password it’s asking for. When I put the password in it says it’s wrong. What the heck is it asking for? How can I open this note?

Yup. Doesn’t work. Try it yourself. It’s utterly baffling. If it’s not possible the least it could do is say “this note can only be seen on one device. If it is possible it should tell you which password it wants.
