Hello,

I unlocked a friend's iPhone using the instructions here: http://iphone.unlock.no/ -- the one where you call yourself and trick it to go into the settings screen then using anySIM. Everything went well (except my sim card wouldn't work, and I had no idea why for the longest time, but I 'virginized' my phone and that worked).

My question is...my friend just called me and she said her phone doesn't detect the sim card. I unlocked her phone using my sim card (which is on a different provider by the way). So...when you unlock the phone, does it unlock ONLY with the sim card you unlock it with? Do I have to do the process over again with her sim card in the phone? Do I maybe just run anySIM again with her sim card in it?

Thanks!

If you virginized the phone, it won't be unlocked anymore (which means you'll need to run anySIM again). Was the "other provider" Cingular? If so, it's not another provider. Cingular and the current AT&T are the same thing.

No, my SIM is Rogers and hers was Fido.

I couldn't do anything to make it work. I tried running anySIM again with her SIM inside, running virginizer again, running anySIM after that...so I resorted to restoring it and starting from step 1 :/ It works now though.

Weird thing is that I tested the phone with my sim and it worked. Later, I put her sim in my phone and it worked, and my sim in her phone and it didn't work. So it had to do with her phone. The only thing I did in between was install some apps...
