I unlocked my 2G iphone 1 year ago using Ziphone and it has been working perfect. I would like to upgrade to the latest firmware but I was not sure if it is possible since I heard Ziphone changes some necessary code. Can I do this? If so, would anyone mind posting some instructions? All posts seem to be geared towards new 3G iphone unlocking...

Thanks!

DFU restore the phone back to Apple firmware. Make sure you set the phone up as a new one. But if you want you can choose to restore your settings at a later point.

Once you've restored and updated to 2.2.1, you can use PwnageTool or QuickPwn to then Unlock and/or Jailbreak.

This is probably the safest method.

Thank you for the reply. Is this considered pretty safe? I am wondering if it is worth the risk to brinking this phone. If it's a no big deal then I will go for it.
