I manages to unlock my uk o2 3g 16gb iphone
using blacksnow which is great because it was
easy and i really didn't have a clue what i was
doing. phone seems to be working fine i have
manage to get t-mobile internet working. only
think i cant get working is youtube seems to
work fine over wifi but not through the t-mobile
internet

main issues is how do i go about activating my
iphone through itunes i bought the iphone from
a second hand shop called C E X and i thought
it would have been activated already

i usually am pretty techky and can work things out
but the iphone just seems challenging

how can i Hacktivate and not conflict with blacksnow

also any tips for youtube issues are welcome

please go easy on me i don't usually post threads
like this. I just got the iphone yesterday evening
and have been up most of the night trying to get
it up and running

But it is activated:) If it wasn't, you would see the "connect to iTunes"-screen on the iPhone...
Can you try connecting the iPhone to another computer?

i think i wasn't clear, i do not know how to activate
it i have managed to unlock my phone, tried a
virgin chip and a t-mobile chip. and because i
used black snow to do so it might be jailbroken
as well.

so how do i activate it? i thought i did so by connecting
it to itunes but when i do so i get the this is not a
supported sim error message

so it might be activated because it seems to be working
you saying. so no how do i get my itunes to accept it?

Let me clear: If your iPhone is working and you can make calls etc. then it is activated!
Can you sync with iTunes?

I can't explain why you're getting the error. You can try making a full delete of iTunes and reinstall it.

ok cool thanks, so my problem is sync to itunes
it there i am getting the error because the iphones
seems to be functioning fine

Have you tried switching USB-port?

Maybe something went wrong in the jailbreaking-proces. You could try restoring to 3.1.2 and not restore from backup when you're finished with the normal restore.

ok i will restart both my imac and iphone then try switching ports

how would i go about restoring to 3.1.2 i am pretty new to iphonism
so not sure how to restore, back ups and not backing up

any other possible issues causing this?

thanks for the help enoC

I do not have an itunes account set up at all could that
be an issue

Like others have said, if your phone is working; I.E. making and receiving calls on T-Mo, you are Hacktivated. iTunes is not used for activating your phone, as you are not legit on a provided carrier.

So, if iTunes does not recognize your device; try syncing your music and ignore the invalid Sim message... Can you do that?

if not, reinstall iTunes, as this is only used for syncing for you NOT activating.

there are multiple ways to restore. The easiest way is just to click the "Restore"-button on your iPhone-page in iTunes. You can also put the iPhone in Recovery Mode or DFU Mode. Search for both on youtube is the easiest way to see how its done:)

But start off by making an iTunes account.

And you're very welcome;)

thanks again Moi un Mouton, enoC and tigres ;)

i managed to get everything working. i had to put my
iphone in i think recovery mode. then restore the iphone
to 3.1.2. then made it rain again and itunes is working
seamlessly with my phone now

I set up an itunes account, transfered over my entire
music collection generally enjoying the phone

I also managed to sort the youtube issue there was
actually a content lock on my account i read somewhere
that that might be an issue so i removed it via t-mobiles
website and like 10 mins later youtube was working.
i did reboot the iphone lots as well as reinstalling that
push fix program a few times prior to this. so it might
have been a result of all of these or just good fortune :)

i might be asking for to much , but is there a way to
make the picture quality on the youtube vids over 3g
better?
