I've seen similar posts but none mentioning they were able to surf the web while noit being able to receive/place calls so here we go, *any* tips are most welcome!

Object: a 2nd hand bought 3G 16GB, Redsn0wed and Ultrasn0wed by myself which has been running perfectly fine for about a month with any SIM card I've thrown at it

Problem: 2 days ago one of the SIM-cards I use suddenly failed to pick up a signal so I replaced it with a SIM-card from my other provider. A few hours later this card also failed on me and now I'm *only* able to browse the web using Edge/2G but not place or receive any calls.
The Signal Strength bar only shows "..... E"

Actions: Have run a CHECKMEND report on the IMEI, which to be honest I'm having a bit of tough time to interpret...

Ever blocked Rest Of World - This item has been blocked during its lifetime by one or more Rest Of World network(s).
IMEI Currently blocked - This item is currently blocked on one or more networks. It may still work on some networks

I have Redsn0wed and Ultrasn0wed it three times, including testing the 3.0.1 update. Restarted and resprung it several times, emailed the provider to which it was originally locked to see if they have it reported stolen/barred it from the global networks or something but no matter what i do it wont let me use it for calls, only surfing =/

What's wrong with it??

Have you tried Restoring to 3.0 (7A341 FW I believe) then Jailbreaking using Redsnow?

yes, used iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw straight from Apples site, applied RedSn0w and then Ultrasn0w. No errors whatsoever and tried multiple copies of the IPSW-file to ensure my downloads were 100% correct.

As I can surf I refuse to believe there's a HW fault somewhere keeping me from dialing. This is my 2nd iPhone and have done all of these things a couple of times before so I know my way but this has got me absolutely stumped. Any more ideas? Please...

SO, if you're having the same weird issue as I have or experience No Service after unlocking I can recommend to deplete the battery complete... I depleted it and once I hooked up the phone to iTunes with a USB cable to charge it went online and founed my provider. Weird...

Weird. it just started working. Make 3G is turned off. And it can't hurt to update to 3.0.1. :)

Utterly ytterly weird yes. If I enable 3G the phone goes back to it's original FUBAR state and for the phone to pick up my carrier againI have to disable it and do a cold reboot .... :(

I "tripped" on the 3G switch and the phone is dead as a door nail again, won't pick up any signal whatsoever - although I can surf using Edge just as in post #1 :/

I tried DFU and Redsn0w (even 0.72) and downloaded Ultrasn0w from the sinfuliphone Repo instead of repo666 just to make sure I caught the last bus but it looks like I'm stuck on the "short bus". These were my 2nd to last option, final and last resort is to fire up the good old Mac and try PwnageTool to see if this makes any difference. Doubt it though.

"come on you guys...=)"

I understand some of you have helped yr friends and families to unlock their iPhones and just out of curiosity - how often have you NOT been able to successfully unlocka 3G?

I've tried Redsn0w on Mac+Vista as well as PwnageTool 3.0 and know I'm doing everything by the book, hey this is not rocket science, so where are things going wrong on this one?

Dudes and dudettes, is there no one out there who is experiening issues with 3G enabled or botched JB's/unlocks. I need a straw to cling on to our I'll very soon throw this phone against a brick wall with great force.

I tried a SIM card from another provider and as long as I dont enable 3G it actually works... enabling 3G makes it loose it's carrier and I have to do a cold reboot to pick up any signal again
