I have just seen an article over at Engadget, where the iPhone has been successfully unlocked. There is also a video of Engadget using the iPhone to make and recieve calls on the t-mobile network. Now, since the iphone has now been 'unlocked', would it be safe to import one to the UK? I.e, if Apple released a patch for this, could the iPhone be 'locked' again?
Thanks

We can't know for sure about the patching as it hasn't happened, but they do say its "reset proof". As for safe to working in the UK, I should know next week... a friend has had one for a couple of weeks and has been using it purely for wifi web and iPod useage, so as soon as this program is available I'm sure he'll be using it sharpish... and I'll report back then.

I'm so excited about this! I bought an iPhone today from eBay, collected it from the seller and am now waiting patiently for the unlocking software to come out. I'll let you all know how it goes.

In the meantime, it's a fantastic iPod and wifi internet device!!

I dont think the unlocking software will come out.... AT&T are taking action agents the companies that have the program..
