This happened twice.

I jailbroke my iphone many months ago, and have some jailbroken software installed. I took this iphone to China this month, and I am surprised to find that the iphone does not work with the local sim card.

I helped a friend to unlock his iphone a few weeks ago. The jailbroken confirmation graphics shows up and etc, it did not work with local sim card in China either.

Did anyone else experience this? Or is there anything that we possibly did wrong?

Many thanks!

Jailbreak ≠ unlock. Are you sure you unlocked it or did you just jailbreak it?

I did not know that.

I just jailbreak it. I did not unlock it. How do I unlock it?

mine works just fine... and its an official apple/vodafone iphone.....
here in nz.. they sell it unlocked... so i can take it anywhere and put sim card of the country i am in...
i have tried this in australia with various sim cards while on holiday.. and works like magic!
