Unlocked iPhone on o2 query regarding ringtones and voicemail

Hi,

I found a lot of help regarding Edge and Bluetooth. But I cannot see anything about voicemail and ringtones.

I see a lot on Visual Voicemail and how it does not work on unlocked o2. But my problem is, I do not even get a notification if I have a voicemail. I used to get a text on my old phone everytime I had a voicemail but on the iphone I do not get a notification if I have a voicemail. Any ideas how do I get notified everytime I have a voicemail?

Additionally, how do I use a personalised ringtone on the iPhone? Or is it that I can only use the ringtones provided by iPhone?

Voicemail notification on unlocked phone

I have an unlocked US 1.1.1 iphone. I am using an Orange pay monthly Sim.
I get absolutely no notification of voicemails, have to call voicemail to check for messages. Does anyone get an icon and audible warning of new voicemails on an unlocked US iphone on a UK network? Can this be fixed?

Has anyone had any luck sorting this problem? Wonder if it will be fixed with the next upgrade/unlock?

Try this for your voicemail problems. Also make sure your carrier is set to alert you via the phone and not text msgs

As for ringtones, try this for firmware's 1.1.1 or older and iTunes 7.4 or older
