I have a 2g unlocked 2.2 jailbroken.(just bought it). I put my t mobile sim card in and get no service. Carrier settings are either automatic or manual. I'm assuming maybe it is not unlocked and the seller lied. Any help is appreciated. Thanks By the way I'm a newbie so bear with.

I hope you didnt buy it at a ridiculous price cuz the seller could easily lie about it. But no worries you can always unlock and jailbreak it yourself. Just go to iclarified[dot]com and go under tutorials/iphone/jailbreak. then look for the tutorial you need.

No Service

2g just upgraded to 2.2.1 to solve my "no service" problem. use Quickpwn installed cydia and installer. Still "no service" any other ideas. 27 hrs and counting. Might put my head through computer screen!

When I first used Quickpwn on my iPhone it did not succeed in unlocking it. I think this was because the phone was activated already on O2.

Can you tell if your phone is actually unlocked?

In the end, I put it into DFU, restored the standard firmware through iTunes, did not activate, then used Quickpwn to jailbreak and unlock the phone, which also activated it.

Do you get an error message when you put in the t-mobile SIM?

No Service

I believe it is unlocked. Cydia and Installer are on the home screen. I can navigate into menu screens etc... I do not get an error message. Just searching than "no service" when I put sim card in. Any help is appreciated

That means it's jailbroken, not unlocked. :)

Try using Pwnage Tool in expert mode instead. You'll need to find (ie, Google for) the Boot Loaders (3.9 and 4.6 I believe) but that shouldn't be too hard. :)

When I went through the process, I checked the box to "unlock". I also installed BL 3.9 and 4.6 during the process. Is Quickpwn different than pwnage tool? Should I just google pwnage tool expert? Thanks for the help.

I'd advise that you restore your phone through DFU mode to 2.2.1 and set it up as a new phone, rather than updating it from whatever state it was in before. Esssentially, wipe the slate clean and start again.

Don't let iTunes activate it.

Then follow this iClarified tutorial, word by word:

Sorry if this is stuff you already did, can't tell from your post exactly what steps you followed but hopefully this will sort you out and prevent you putting your head through the computer screen tomorrow :)

PS Is your t-mobile SIM definitely in service?

No Service

Yes the sim works in my Blackberry. I tried to restore it back to new.(Ithink) When I hooked back into itunes it wanted to go through activation through att. I bypassed that and basically installed 2.2.1 back on it.(i think) I thank the people trying to help. I'm keeping the faith. Please give step by step instructions if you have any ideas.

Did you try going on cydia and download bootneuter? There might be a chance that it's jailbroken but not unlocked.

I tried to download bootneuter through Cydia. The only available download was 2.1. My phone is running 2.2.1. I followed the tutorial on iclarified to a t. I'm starting to believe this is not an unlock problem. I unlocked my wifes phone through iclarified and it worked seemlessly.(isn't that weird i do all the work but she gets the working phone). Please help!
