Ok so i'm a bit behind, have had an iphone 3g which i've jailbroken unlocked with ultrasnow i think it was... but in any case an app through cydia.

1) I know as of a couple months ago the only way to unlock a 4s was with teh gevey unlock. Is this still the case?

2)If I buy a gevey unlock thing, does it only work once/do you have to keep it in the phone? If i was going to unlock 2 phones would I have to buy 2 gevey unlocks?

3)Anyone have experience with these problems of sms/mms on 5.1.1? Is there any fix for this yet? Going to buy an iphone off ebay trying to determine what ios would be ok. If there

4) if no fix yet, is it possibly to downgrade 5.1.1 to one that doesnt have these problems?

downgrading requires SHSH blobs and a apt ticket downgrading the baseband is even more difficult. but you can get a factory unlock or imei unlock for less the $20. there is a thread in the forum talking about it.

thats IMEI unlocks, so wouldn't work on verizon/sprint phones. Also looks like they're not super sure... its $50 or more on average, often $100+ it looks like, not sure how to find one thats a scam and one thats not

anyone with answers to my questions instead of answering the trolling guy? :D

Verizion offers unlocking just can't use it in The US. there are also lots of threads here talking about Verizon and unlocking. also Gevey offers a cdma unlock I recommend buying from somebody like Appleberry.

If you are trying to use a sim from a US carrier in a CDMA phone, the only option is a Gevey Ultra S sim interposer.

The Sprint/Verizon unlock will not allow the use of anything except International sims.

Yes, what dhlizard said above.
1. Yes.
2. You need to keep the sim adapter in the phone, the second you remove it the phone is not unlocked any more.
3. Not sure about the sms/mms issues you'll have to research more on that.
4. If that particular iphone has shsh blobs saved for 5.0.1 you will be able to downgrade, if not you're stuck with only 5.1.1
