Just being curious that what if i buy unlock code from ebay or other website to unlock the iPhone 5, & lets say if something happen to iPhone 5 & want to replace from apple store with applecare+. will they replace it without any Question ask on why this iPhone unlock? or will i lost my applecare+ warranty?

i am confuse/nervous, because i paid $99 for applecare+ & i don't want to loose it.

Please reply if anyone had experiences on this..... & had/have successfully got replace? i dont care after changing the iphone stay lock or not..

My 3GS got unlocked in the warranty period and they swapped it for a battery defect and never said anything. The next one was unlocked too :)

Careful: do some research first on how to unlock an iPhone. I've come across an article explaining there is NO software unlock or hardware unlock, they're just trying to rip you off! You can't buy an unlocking code from eBay (heck, does that kind of thing even get sold on eBay? They must be nuts!) What works is an IMEI unlock where you have to give them your IMEI and they will add your IMEI to the whitelist of unlocked iPhones. Then for the last step of the process you just have to connect your iPhone to iTunes, and then it will say that your phone has been unlocked. Sounds legit right?

The cheapest way to do this is through your carrier. However they might make you use their service for at least 6 months before unlocking. So if you want the quick method, you can go and try www.officialiphoneunlock.co.uk They hire people who work for Apple/carriers or have access to the whitelist so they could add your IMEI to the whitelist. Some reviews say they're the most reliable, and are very reliable. I haven't tried it though and it looks very costly to me (especially with UK carriers...). But that's an option for you.

Do NOT trust other websites that say they'll unlock for you at a cheap price, they're most likely scammers that just want your money!

Good luck with unlocking your iPhone!

EDIT: oh and, the IMEI unlock shall NOT void your warranty whereas the fake software/hardware unlock will indeed void your warranty so be careful!

Quick question, upon unlock by carrier, do I need to complete this stage myself or let the buyer do this iTunes thing

I'm currently trying different Ebay sellers. for 1 black listed iPhone and 2 under contract phones. I will update as i get results.

1)

Iphone 4s - under contract - rejected $8.90 - trying a new seller at $14 price tag

2)

iphone 5 - In progress - $10.80
