Unlocking Iphone, before release?

If I unlock the iphone to work in canada (Buying from US), and then they happen to offically release the phone to work in canada, what will happen at that point? Can I update my US iphone and will it then work in canada without the unlocking software?


HA with my luck apple will release the phone to be CDMA in canada.... grrrrr.
