I am writing this post from Switzerland where i just arrived. Please let me tell you the story that’s brings about this request:

I work half time in Switzerland and the US. I have a Phone provider in Switzerland (Salt) and one in the US (AT&T).

On oct 7th of this year as i was packing to go to Europe my phone ended up in the wash machine. I guess, it died forever. I rush to a Best buys store to get a new one.
I purchased a new iPhone on Oct 8th, without any contract.
I left for Switzerland on oct 9.th.
Now, I realize that my new phone is blocked and not allowing using my other SIM card with my swiss provider.
I have talked to many AT&T operators and they are not accepting to unlock my phone. They say that i have to use it for 6 month before i can unlock it.

I am in Switzerland for 4 months and can not use my new phone. Imagine how difficult if not impossible it is to function and do business without a regular phone number.
My AT&T SIM card does not work anymore since it was with my washed iPhone.!

Can anyone give me advice on what to do?

I would keep escalating with AT&T representatives (going up the chain and asking for supervisors as necessary) to try and find a person who’s understanding of your situation. Don’t take “No” for an answer and just keep repeating the situation up the chain

If that doesn’t pan out then I would recommend getting a cheap Android or unlocked iPhone in Europe.

Regarding the SIM card I would ask a rep if they ship internationally. If not, I would get it shipped to someone you trust who can mail it to you. Not sure if ATT offers in-app phone use (similar to T-Mobile Digits).

Yes I may just have to borrow a local phone for a while.
There is a local third party that unlocks phones. I will check it out to.
Thank you to take the time to answer.
