Unlocking phones

I tried to find a jailbreak software but I am not sure what to use. Its a cell phone that is not with my carrier and I have no idea who, someone swaped mine with theirs and now I cant get into the phone. Its a iphone and its says unknown SIM card when I put mine in it says not know provider
Unless you can figure out who the carrier was and get a third party unlock or an unlock from that carrier then you have an expensive paperweight.
Forget about jailbreaking. Since there is no software unlocks and that is ALL you seem to want to jailbreak for - there is no point.
ok so what if I wanted to jail break it?? I mean if I had other phones as well...is there a sofyware I can use to do this?
If you are just out to jailbreak, you need to know what version of iOS you are using. That will determine which jailbreak you need to use - if that version is jailbreakable.
For instance, if you tell us that the phone is on iOS 9.1 then there is no jailbreak for that.

Sorry. An iPhone 5 can be running anything from 6.0 to 9.1.
8.4.1 and 9.1 are not jailbreakable. If you fall anywhere in between you will either be using Evasi0n, Pangu or Taig. I'm not sure what you'd need for iOS 6.3 or 6.4.

so those sites are safe ones? So just a question what do those business use when they advertise that they can unlock any phone, as well I know a place that care able to unlock black listed phones

If the iPhone has a lock you are sol. You have to return it to the original owner.
I think you need to realize that unfortunately that iPhone of yours is a paperweight right now. Unless you can find out the original carrier of the iPhone.
I can't answer whether they are safe or not until you know which version of iOS you have.
And if your iPhone is blacklisted - there's a reason for that. At this point you are on your own. If jailbreaking is all you want to do then find out what version you have and then look for the correct site to download the correct jailbreak for that version.
But software unlocks are dead and I have never used an unlock service so I cannot help you any further.
Go into settings and find the version number, that will let people here tell you if you are on a version that can be jailbroken.

the problem is I cant get into the phone, it says SIN card unknown, it wont let me get past it. Yes I want to beable to use it on any carrier. I have a few phones like that.
Try restoring it from iTunes. A sim from the wrong carrier shouldn't stop you from using it at least like an iPod touch. Note that restoring from iTunes will not get you past activation lock.

After a restore the iPhone needs to be activated with a sim from the network the phone is locked to.
Without that you cannot get passed the activation screen and do anything with the phone at all.

No. All iPhones always function the same.
The unlocked iPhones will activate with any SIM card and let you into the home screen.
Without a SIM card you will not get passed the activation screen with any iPhone.
We don't support stolen/lost/blacklisted phones here. My recommendation, aside from locating the owner of the phone, is if you know a place that can unlock blacklisted phones, and that is what you want to do, then go there. I seriously doubt that ANYONE here is willing to help you with a phone that you openly admit is not yours. You say that your phone got switched with theirs, what ever that means....I know what it does mean, is that it is not yours. I am sorry that yours is possibly gone, but that does not make this phone yours.

What's up dhlizard! Yes, it smelled similar to the threads made by newbies before iCloud/find my iPhone security. Now we see one or two when a new jb comes out, I guess just in case someone managed to bypass security like it happened a few ago w the emergency sequence.
I even said it before that post but indirectly. Once he said they swapped them it became obvious.
Newb+unlock+non-sense story=stolen until proven otherwise.
Now that the old teams are not releasing jbs have you moved to other sites like Reddit to help the fellow jbs?
No, those sites are not safe. And no, there are no companies that can carrier unlock any iPhone. Any other answer is BS.
