Unlocking problem.

So i went through all the unlocking steps and it appeared to go fine, when it was finished it asked me to insert a sim card which I did. So I put in the sim and unlock and it said it was successful.

The iphone screen then gives me the usb symbol with the itunes logo telling me to plug in so I do. Then I get this message..

The Sim card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
Only compatible sim cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the iPhone that came with your iPhone or visit a supported Carriers store to receive a replacement sim card.

Any help please..
 
Same issue, EDGE 8G iPhone here, unlocked with QuickPwn, and getting the same message when I try to insert my t-mobile SIM. Using iTunes 8.0.0.35 and Iphone 2.1 firmware. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :eek:

Make sure when going through the unlocking process to click the activate phone part, that is what the problem was for me.
 
If you are on 2.1 you should use quickpwn to unlock instead. It is much faster and easier since you dont need to do anything with itunes
 
I'm using QuickPwn. It always comes back to the screen on the phone where it says 'Different SIM detected please connect to iTunes'. This is immediately after a restore to 2.1 native in iTunes and an unlock using QuickPwn. Any ideas?:(

Ditto. I am having the same proablem. Quickpwn 1.1 Mac on 2G iphone 2.1, also tried BootNeuter from Cydia and still no luck.... :confused:
 
You're stuck on the activation part, not the unlocking part. Your phone is likely unlocked, once you get pass the activation part. That part I can't help you, I usually take the easy way out and insert an AT&T sim card for activation prior to unlocking the phone.

I always restore to baseline native 2.1 in iTunes with the ATT SIM card. iTunes won't akcnowledge a phone with an invalid SIM with anything other than the error screen.

I've tried unlocking with both (not at the same time) the ATT SIM and the t-mobile SIM in the iPhone. I cannot replace the ATT SIM with the t-mobile after the unlock without the 'Different SIM detected' message, and when I unlock with the t-mobile SIM card inserted, the message appears immediately after the post-unlock iPhone reboot.

Is it really this hard to unlock one of these EDGE phones, or can someone spot something I'm doing wrong? Should I try something other than QuickPwn for Windows?
 
The Long and Winding Road

Final solution: downgraded to iTunes 7.7, downgraded the iPhone to 2.0.2, tried WinPwn 2.5 on two machines, it worked on the second one, a notebook running XP Pro (which needed .NET installed to run WinPwn :mad:). Winpwn crashed repeatedly on my Vista Desktop.

I'm now unlocked and running 2.0.2. :) I think the problem was that the iPhone had never been unlocked, and by the time you get to 2.1 and iTunes 8, there are just enough Apple tricks to make it real hard to unlock even an EDGE iPhone.
