I found to my cost that using an external drive with the 8th Generation iPad it had better be powered otherwise iOS won’t recognise it. Now I’m curious to know if this is the case with all non-powered peripherals or has it to do with the lightning connector which unfortunately is still with the iPad 8th Gen. If anyone has knowledge of this then I would be very grateful to read what they say.
