Any idea when the release date for this is? Haven't heard any news on it for a long time. I'm talking about the native port to OS X that Macsoft is doing.

And you wont because Macsoft and Epic have delayed and delayed and delayed this one and told the public nothing. Do what im going to do and buy something else. Quake Wars, Call of duty, whatever. If they cant even update the website with a few paragraphs on whats happening to this one do they even deserve our business?
Suppose to be out in early 08.:rolleyes:

Yeah but Aspyr did that too with CoD 4.

I really like the Unreal sires and WAS very excited about busting UT3 out on my Mac Pro. At this point I'm more upset with myself for not just buying the Windows version, I’ve even walked around the store with it in my hand but stopped from buying it just to support Mac gaming. I’ve tried reading/searching about release info but they remove the thread and never respond to requests for updates. Target has it now for $19.99 and I have bootcamp….

Happy Gaming:apple::apple::apple:

I checked Ryan Gordon's page today to see if there was any updates. This was what I found posted just a few hours ago: http://icculus.org/cgi-bin/finger/finger.pl?user=icculus&date=2008-09-18&time=06-38-30

For those who don't know, Ryan is the main guy to has ported Unreal Tournament 2004 and many games based on Unreal's engines, like Postal 2, to Linux and Mac. I guess its only a matter of time before we see a publisher pick it up and release the game for Mac.

And they have that annoying flash stuff on their UT3 page.

Don't wanna wait for that every time just to learn that the
page has not changed.

They're actually still working on it?!? :confused: I thought it got canned.

What's taking it so long? It's been 9 months, and the Unreal 3 engine was ported to the Mac years ago!

I'm still playin' UT2004, but I'm starting to want something new, and like one of the other users in this thread was starting to look at COD4.

Not all games using the U3 engine use the same version of the engine. A lot of them have vast differences. Gears of War has a very different U3 engine than UT3 and is also different from Bioshock. For example, Bioshock has a custom water rendering engine and Gears used an earlier build of U3.

Plus I believe they are trying to FINALLY give us all the editing tools this time around.

Historically MacSoft Games did the Mac ports for UT and its kin, you can see a UT3 thing on their page but it is only saying "Spring" as a due date. This could mean last spring (out of date) or this upcoming 2009 spring (way too long).

At this point I've nearly lost all interest in playing UT3. Lackluster reviews, same gameplay (almost) with the same gamers (a.k.a. very competitive jerks), overall small community verses UT & UT200x and requires a beefy, expensive Mac to run on. (My definition of running doesn't mean barely runs, or 30 fps at lowest settings - that's unplayable for a FPS game like UT.)

Probably will buy it to mess around with once in awhile offline, but it just doesn't seem worth it anymore.

I'd rather pay for an updated OS X port of the original UT than this...
