Theres a Mac native UT now?
Hold on there... are we talkin Unreal Tournament as in the original 2008 Unreal Tournament? HOW? What? I must have!
What a fantastic game. Still have it as well, though I only play it under Windows.
I don't know how to solve your issue unless you can run it in full screen mode, perhaps?
Could even play that game in a VM.
I think that it is in full screen mode .. You know that the PC game Deus Ex is now for Intel Macs (I have it), and with that game running the dock is not seen at all (Unlike Unreal Tournament). I've played Deus Ex on-line and it's a great FPS game with other players....
Are there still online players for Unreal Tournament GOTY?
I only game on my PC so I'm not really any help, I just got excited at the game. Can you even disable the whacky mouse acceleration for gaming on macOS?
From what I recall you can adjust the in-game brightness from the menu using the Gamma slider.
Yep still lots of players, and I'm in a clan too...But I'll try the Gamma slider method.. Shame that F11 doesn't do the same as the PC one. I do play the game a lot on my PC.. I just want to try it on my Mac too, as it does crash from time to time in Windows 10 during loading the next map...
NOO not 2008.. It's original Unreal Tournament GOTY (1999).. About a 500MB download...Of course when downloading the maps from the servers.. The game files will get to 8GB in size (Same as PC)..
Plus I'm running it in OS X El Capitan 10.11.4
I know I'm getting old when most of the games I play are 15-20 years old.Glad to hear it's still active.
I play a few other games from that era that are still good today (even a few that are still being supported, like Age of Empires II HD).
Wow. I'm pretty excited that UT99 servers are still online. Time to dust off my old shock rifle and don my clan tags again?
I last played UT99 something like 5 years ago after not playing it for a number of years. I managed to get a copy running and sought out some sniper arenas.
Oh, how much I had faded. I used to score headshot kills so often that I got accused of cheating all the time. Now, I was barely able to stay out of last place. The thrill of getting a taste of UT99 again quickly gave away to the frustration of how sucky I became. So much of it is timing, yeah?
It's just as well that I couldn't find my stroke. I could have very easily gone straight back to wondering where entire days went if I had enjoyed my reunion more. I'll never be that good again and I spent way too many hours playing it in my 20's anyway.
[doublepost=1520366617][/doublepost]So, can anyone help me out here? How do I install UT99 on a current day Mac?
Hi. If you want the link to download the game.
Your welcome. Now start getting on servers to play with other players (DOU server is the one that I play on SOP too).. Oh, is the dock seen in the game..
Nope, I don't get the dock. My screen is plenty bright too, which is a welcome change as when I was playing this 15 years ago, I never could get the screen as bright as I wanted.
The only issue I get is an occasional screen freeze that lasts a bit less than a second when I'm trying to turn really fast in the middle of a dogfight.
To try to resolve that I went and applied the settings that orph linked to. Now the game's crashing on me so I'm going to reinstall again and leave it alone this time.
I'm playing on a 2016 MBP with an LG 5K monitor on High Sierra. I fully expected the game to crash on me after a couple of minutes. It pretty much ran fine with the exception of the screen freezes. I wonder if turning down the res a bit will help with that.
I have Parallels and a couple of Windows volumes. I wonder if it'll run better on a VM than through Wineskin.
I'll make my way onto the servers soon. I've got some projects to finish first. As much as I'd like to jump back in, I gotta keep away until I can afford to blow a few hours at a time.
What do you play as?
