Could anyone recognize what this sound is from on my mac? It plays seemingly randomly, and I'm unable to figure out what program is causing it. As far as I know, no open programs on my mac are making the sound. Seems like something in the background.

As far as I can tell, no. My emails give off a different sound and my text messages are not connected. There is no visual component to go along with the sound either and it's not a default mac notification sound. Weird.

My initial impression is that this is a peripheral of some sort (USB, Bluetooth, wireless dongle, etc.) that is connecting or disconnecting based on activity, inactivity (usage timeout), etc.

It could conceivably be some sort of cloud services client software that is periodically disconnecting/reconnecting.

When it comes the the devices that are connected, manually or passively disconnecting doesn't cause the noise. I also checked my cloud services, namely creative cloud and onedrive, but I couldn't find any evidence.
