is there way to set the combo drive in my MacBook to 0 or multi-region

i live in australia and get most of my DVD's on the net(to hell with paying 20$ a dvd). you only get 4 changes

It depends what type of drive you have, but for the most part none of the new Mac's come with drives that have rpc1 patches available for them. So you can check if your drive is listed as having a patch here. If you're not sure what type of drive you have, open apple system profiler. You'll probably have a Matshita CW-8221, which does not have a patch available.

So if that's the case you can try using VLC to play the movie, or get an external drive that you can make region free (the forums at rpc1.org should be able to help you figure out what type of drive to get).
