unresponsive tocuh screen on 1st gen iPhone

what could be wrong? the screen works for like 5 minutes then it doesn't respond to touch.....randomly it will work.

I've restored multiple times, restarted multiple times, etc...I don't think its software problem?:confused::confused::confused:
