Unstable iPhoto

I've found that iPhoto is horribly buggy if you try to do anything sophisticated with creating your own book. I've 75 pictures I've spent all evening trying to organize into groups and each time I've managed to get it to corrupt the book and crash.

Is anybody else seeing these? Is there any way to report these to Apple?

Also, is there any decent alternative to iPhoto that provides the book feature?
