I've tried til I'm blue in the face to try to install big sur on an old MacBook pro, which is unsupported.
Using open core legacy patcher (bootable USB) for macbookpro5,4 to drive.
I have tried to do it from the other laptop by hard drive cable.
It keeps hanging on 13 minutes.
Here's what the log says:

Any help would be appreciated. 🙏

Hard restart (with power button)
Before pressing start press: option+command+R
When Earth appears, release
Wait couple of minutes
Reinstall Big Sur or/and first aid disks or/and use Time machine

It worked for me

By chance was it the a1286 (MacBook pro 5,4)?
I've been doing it on the 13 inch pros with no issues.
Thanks for the response, btw.
