I have a powerbook G4 and just found out the solution to the problem I was having is replacing the motherboard. I sent the powerbook into apple to take care of it and originally they said it was just a small part replacement, but now apparently my powerbook's return has been further pushed back because they had to order and install a new motherboard. I am glad they have isolated the issue and dealt with it appropriately, but recalled hearing that apple was getting sued for this very issue, i.e., short lifespan of motherboards. Can anyone confirm this for me?

I am also less than thrilled with the website and email techniques used to inform me of the status of my powerbook. It has said return pending for 5 days now so I finally called and only through a phone conversation was able to learn all that I listed above. While phone support was very helpful, it is annoying to have to resort to that when the information is apparently available by email and web. More importantly, the duplication of work by entering info into the computer system and then requiring a phone operator to field my calls is less than pleasing, speaking from my standpoint as an investor.

Any company that has people will have problems.:( Im currently feeling a little burnt by Apple being my MBP went in for repair was returned to me scratched and dirty with 75% of the problems it left with. If only everything could be as consistent as McDonalds fries, the world would be that much better.

You're kinda coming off as a troll, dude. All you talk about is that. Yeah, it sucks that they screwed up your computer. Send them a complaint. Go into an Apple store. Don't just repost it in every thread. This doesn't even have anything to do with this question.
