Up-to-date Program

If I bought a Mac eligible for the up to date program (after June 11), according to this article: https://www.macrumors.com/2012/07/2...application-goes-live-ahead-of-public-launch/
We get a content code and use the redeem link on Mac App Store to download ML.

Would a user be able to use the same content code to download and install ML on other Macs as well?

Notice that if I directly purchase ML for the Mac App Store, according to the license, I would be allowed to install it on all the Macs I own. So, my belief is that we should be allowed to install the up-to-date program copy of ML on multiple Macs as well.

No. The up-to date code is for the new Mac and the new Mac only...This has been covered extensively in other threads....You get the upgrade on your new Mac. If you want ML on your others, then pay you must.

It will be in your apple ID purchased history! So you will be able to redownload it like how you would with an app store app!

@Macman45, can't we just stick the Content code into another Mac's app store and re-download ML?

Yes,the user is allowed to install ML in a total of 5 Macs according to license by volume in EULA using "up to date" program.The redemption code onlye gives you one shot but you can go to App Store, download & install again in another machines until license volume is filled up without any problems.The same way goes if you buy it from App Store!.

The only exception is having ML pre-installed.At this point you are locked to have OSX only on this machine due to not having license by volume according to EULA.

All this information was told by a "Genius bar mate" last week!

I can just confirm how it worked with the last up to date lion program. You go to a web site and enter some info. Hopefully, it works and you get an email with a password protected PDF containing a redeem code. (I had to submit a PDF copy of my receipt because my iMac serial wasn't detected automatically however.)

Put the code in on the Mac app store, and you can redeem for the new os. Like any other program on the Mac app store, you can then redownload to as many other computers as you want to.

Hopefully it will be smoother than last time getting the free code. I submitted the receipt via the web site and nothing happened. After waiting several days I wound up calling AppleCare, they eventually gave me a code. Two weeks after installing lion I was given another free code via email, I think from the original submission web site. (Apple's up to date program must have been backlogged several weeks.)
