I bought my black Macbook, and a Canon printer on the 25th, because they had a sale going on. Now I have to send in my UPC barcodes on both the Macbook and the Canon printer. The problem is, I can't seem to find out where the UPC barcode is on either. Also, it says to cut them out, but if I do, will it mess anything up if I have to return it, or sell it, or use Applecare?

Thanks in advance.

i bought the blackbook and canon printer last week, returned home to find the printer was broken, swapped the printer next day, peeled the upc off the blackbook box (the thing w/a barcode on it), cut the upc out of the canon box (no way avoiding making a hole in the box), then sent in the rebate. word of advice, make sure the printer works before you cut the upc.

So is it just the barcode at the very top, or can I just peel off the whole thing??

no u peel off the entire thing. i even went asfar as to scan the upc w/my new printer to save a copy, then sent the original to rebate place. the serial number is on the same slip w/the barcode.

I don't know how picky they get about this but in the fine print of the rebate it says peeling off the UPS label will not work, you need to cut out the cardboard that it is attached to.

"The UPC bar code labels must be cut from the
product packaging so that the cardboard backing is completely removed from the packaging. The UPC bar code labels must include part numbers with
bar codes, serial numbers with bar codes, and product descriptions."

they better take my rebate. it may not have been attached to the original box, but i stuck the upc label on the rebate form itself.

i would follow their rules for submitting the rebate.

i wouldnt stress out until they denied your rebate, which in all likelihood they won't. I didn't want to destroy my new box container, so I didnt cut the cardboard.

Yeah, i think it is just a rediculous requirement they put in hoping it will make people say "screw it." You will prolly be fine, but I thought I should point it out.

Well thanks. My dad just got pissed (My laptop/printer was a birthday present) because I peeled it off, when the guy at the store said to cut it. I wonder if I cut it, and like, taped the cardboard to the UPC?

actually, thats what i did for the printer cause i didnt read that part until after i had peeled half of it off so i just cut the cardboard out and taped it to the back of the peeled off portion. That seemed to work cause i checked my rebate status online today and it seems as though my check is on its way.
