Is anyone else hoping for better battery like due to the higher SB IPC and lack of descrete graphics?

Not really hoping as much as expecting.. :p

I'd say we'll get sandy bridge, and that will result in longer battery life as well as a better processor, I think this is around 90% certain.

Backlit keyboard is a possibility, I'd say 50/50 though, on it coming with the new macbook air, 4gb ram is another possibility, which could make sense since they removed the 320m where they could pass on the savings to the customers.

A 5 second search would have found approximately 10 or 20 threads on the same subject.

I understand that you are new, but there's around 5 threads on this very page about the same topic. Looking through them before posting can't be that hard...

Pretentious?Really, I'm not trying to impress anyone, I could not think of anything else, those are the three things that I enjoy in this life, one the best electronics company, two, the most elite car manufacturing company, thirdly, the best NBA franchise in the league. If you disagree (which you most defiantly and definitely will) then that is your personal opinion which I can not modify. Speaking of pretentious your name has PsyD in it, that is the epitome of pretentious, and ironically I am a graduate student almost completing my Psy.D....and yes I understand I could have done a quick search, EVERYONE does not have to repeat the same thing over, scroll down the page, do a "quick visual search" of the forum, before writing anything that has already been written by someone else....do yourself a favor and follow your own rule as well...

There are two schools of thought on this subject. One (my belief), is that Apple will use the ULV Sandy Bridge CPU's, since their NON-turbo mode kicks the crap outta the current C2D offerings, and when in turbo mode are awesome CPU's. By doing this and having the integrated GPU (almost a guarantee, seeing as the 13" MBP doesn't have discrete), they can bolster the battery life an hour or two hopefully. Others believe they will use non-ULV Sandy Bridge CPU's, which, will give a better CPU, but will probably keep battery life the same if not worse with turbo mode.

seriously?

1. one of the best electronics companies? fine i agree with that too an extent.
2. Seriously? most elite car manufacturing company? Bmws are equivalent to accords around here. elite? no not at all very common. better manufacturers? audi, mercedes amg line, porsche; etc. Should i keep going?
3. Lakers? best franchise? celtics might have something to say about that since they have more rings than the lakers franchise.

Sorry you had to encounter this type of welcome to MacRumors. I try to lurk and not participate too often because, as you saw, the vast majority (not all, thank goodness) of people on here are angry most of the time and if you don't make a statement or pose a question in a fashion that they deem appropriate, they will come at you like a bunch of self-righteous church deacons, utterly disgusted at the audacity of you not doing your research beforehand, and talk to you in the most condescending way.

And when there's nothing else to whine and complain about, they resort to dissecting your username! LoL. That alone ought to tell you just how petty and jaded some people are on here. They just need to get over themselves.

And exactly how do you expect AppleBMW&Lakers to dodge your pet peeves given that he doesn't know you?? Are we all supposed to double-check with you before making a post??

Responses like your original comment to AppleBMW&Lakers would be much better left unwritten.

Dude, would you let it go? - Christ.

I mean, seriously, what a way is that to welcome someone?

on-topic: I think they'll go with the ulv sandy bridge processor for the 11" and the lv sandy bridge for the 13", which in both cases should offer more battery life, I believe Hellhammer has been trying to point out for a while that the current processors in the 13" MBA are also lv, so really we should be going from ulv to ulv with the MBA 11", and LV to LV with the 13" which in both cases should mean better battery life since they've removed the 320m graphics, also, sandy bridge should run "cheaper" than core 2 duo, I believe from being fast at going back to idle when not in use or idle more than the core2 duo.

Assuming you are an American, our per capita income is $47k, whilst a bare bones 5-series is ~$50k. Based on price alone, the average American would have to forgoe a year's income for a 5-series (3-series are terribly common...but the average American would still have to cough up half of their income). Therefore, BMW is quite a reach for a great deal of our population. So elite based on price?...maybe. Based on build? I dunno.

I'm guessing most BMW owners (and most [luxury] car owners in general) are financing or leasing their vehicles, rather than paying outright.

According to CNW Marketing Research, 70.5 percent of people finance their cars; the rest lease (18.5 percent) or pay up front with cash (11 percent).

I see quite a number of BMWs every day on my commute to work and I daresay there are more 3-series' than Corollas at least in Hong Kong. (are luxury cars extremely rare in the US?)

Elite it is not imo. And this is coming from a current BMW owner of a model which is actually semi-elite. (well it's rare... does that count? :p)

I'm pretty sure there are more BMWs than, say, Rolls-Royces and Maybachs in the world. Thus BMW is not the most elite car mfg company, if one's definition of elite is exclusivity ;)
