ok everyone-
I used to be a fairly big nusance around here asking questions about the mac I didn't have. Well, I finally got a 1 Ghz powerbook and love it. Everything on it is flawless, couldn't ask for more. Except this little thing:
I take care of numerous web pages. The one thing that I love about OS X is that I don't nee extra software to connect to the ftp sites to upload updates files. The problem I'm running into is when I mount any ftp servers to my desktop, they are write protected. I can use a program like fetch and use the same username and password and have all rights to the folder (like I should), but I can't for the life of me figure out why my mounted volumes are protected. Any help would be wonderful.
Also, this is just a side note, I'm beginning my thesis year of architecture this year and I'm working with how people interact in virtual communities and digital environments. One major topic being the need for digital art and artists have their own place to express themself through a sanctioned organization. Eventually, making it possible to spread the art throughout the world. Possibly even making it possible for people to get to places they normally wouldn't have available. i.e. - Middle school kids taking virtual field trips to the Guggenheim in NYC. Anyways, my point is, if anyone has any thoughts about digital communities or just digital art and interaction, please let me know. I'd love to get a good dialogue going on.
Sorry for the length.
