Hi. When I updated the IOS5 (like many people) I lost my apps from the phone. I read that you can restore them through the app store on the phone by going into "purchased" then doing the update. My question is, does this also restore the data that was in the app before I updated to IOS5???

PLEASE tell me my data isn't lost! I have an invoice app with all of my work hours for the past 2 months, and without that data I am in big trouble! Any help/advice/tips to making sure I get my app AND the data back on my Iphone 4?!!

Thanks

I don't believe that re-downloading the app is going to bring back your data. The only way to get your data back is to restore from a backup.

Okay... bear with me as I'm a newbie. When you say a "backup" does that mean if I synced my Iphone to my computer before I downloaded the IOS5 update, my app data will be "backed up and I just need to resync my phone with my computer?" For some reason in my Itunes library not all of my apps appear. However, on my phone when I go into the App Store under "purchased" the app is there. So I'm confused about what to do... any advice would be greatly appreciated as I don't want to make the problem worse!

No worries :)

When you have the device plugged into your computer and have the device selected, there is a section labeled "Backup" on the Summary page. If it is set to backup with iTunes, there should be an option to Restore from Backup.

I do not currently have this option due to my backup being associated with iCloud, so I cannot provide a screenshot.

Thanks for your patience :) but now I'm a little worried. I have only ever synced my phone to my computer. I did this right before I updated to IOS 5 because I got that message that says "some purchases on your phone have not been transferred to your computer... please sync to avoid losing.. etc." I've never clicked on a "backup" tab and didn't even notice that there was one. Does this mean that my purchases and the data on them are lost?

The weird thing is that some of my apps such as a budgeting app I have on my phone are there and all the previous data is intact and up to date. There are only a couple that aren't showing up in my itunes library, but they do show up on my phone in the app store "purchased" section. I'm afraid to do anything because the data on these missing apps is very, very important to me! Any advice???
