Hi,

With DP3 Apple has introduced update-reminders in the notification center. Has any of you successfully downloaded DP4 from the finders software update center (which opens the Mac App Store)? Or is DP4 a standalone update only?

C.

I have been trying for several hours. I found it on the Dev center. However, DP4 will not download. It says an error has occurred and will not download. I am wondering if any others are having the same issue?

DP4 Downloaded and Installing

Just finished Downloading, and doing a Time Machine Backup as I type. Don't forget to log into your developers account to get the download code. You will need the Download Code from the Dev Site. Then once you click the "Get Code" button the Mac App Store opens and the download starts.

Download from the Store. I did DP4 as an upgrade to DP3, everything went perfectly and left all my content in place.

It keeps telling me that the download cannot be verified when I go to install it. I've downloaded it twice from the App Store.

Guess I'll try tomorrow after the rush is over.

I keep getting the "cant be verified" message as well. I booted from an external drive and repaired disk and repaired permissions. I am trying to upgrade from DP2 to DP4. I had the same "cant be verified" message trying to go from DP2>DP3 so I just never bothered. I cant really find anything about this problem online. Anyone....

Had DP3 and Lion installed on two partitions of the same internal drive on my 2009 iMac. Downloaded DP4 from the App Store (under Lion), ran the installer and pointed it to install on the partition that had DP3 on it and the install went very smoothly.

Everything is intact and running great so far. I'm happy to say that the last 4 bugs I submitted BRs on (from DP3) were all addressed in DP4. Pretty impressed so far. :)

Is DP3 to DP4 an update or clean install? I think the DP3 file size was not around the 4GB mark DP4 is now? What about the rumours that you can't update DP4 to GM?

That's not a "rumor," you can never upgrade a DP to the GM.

Funny. I've always been able to upgrade to GM from is x betas (one notable exception was the 10.3 beta IIRC)

From the seednotes:

OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview 4 is prerelease software. Do not use this prerelease software in a commercial operating environment or with important data. You should back up all of your data before installing this software and regularly back up data while using the software. You will not be able to upgrade from the OS X Mountain Lion Developer Preview to the final release.

They said the same thing with Lion last year.

Any luck?

Googling it seems to yield a problem with RAM, or Apple's servers being wonky. I tried a bunch of things and about 4 downloads and no joy.

Tonight I'm going to try it hard wired to my LAN and maybe download it on my GF's Macbook as a control.

I finally got through the Verification error. After re-downloading, and still having install issues, but in a separate area, I repaired the disc and it worked fine.
