The same guy who leaked a video of the alleged Apple Pencil 3 today also has a tweet about the iMac. He says something like "it gets new colors, and a 32" version" and he also shows two screenshots of what could be the iMac introduction video. I know that the Pencil video can be fake, but these screenshots look unlike any mockup I've seen so far. It looks like it's straight out of an official Apple video. I couldn't find any other similar pictures with reverse image search and I didn't see it being mentioned anywhere.

If he is right, the next iMac would borrow a lot of the XDR design:
- Same stand, but without the fancy mechanism = not height adjustable, no rotation (=lower costs)
- Looks like it would look identical to the XDR when viewed from the front
- the ports are not shown on the pictures, however, this would match the previous generations where the ports are located on the left side of the back
- a new, sophisticated cooling mechanism (I suspect that the huge holes on the sides are intake vents for air, which would make that mechanism very powerful [the air would exit through the back])
- a much smaller  than on previous iMacs (the logo on the XDR is also extremely small, so it would also fit)
- 4 speakers (the iMac Pro had 2)
- Space Grey color (which is in line with "more colors")
- the round button right in the lower middle of the back could be the power button.

So all in all: simplified XDR design + iMac Pro like cooling solution = great (but long overdue) redesign. Would also fit with Mark Gurman's statement that there won't be "anything particularly innovative".

Maybe we see it on Tuesday - although it seems unlikely, it could be a great story which Apple could tell: "now you've seen the power of the A14X in the new iPad Pro, let us show you what it could do in a Mac, because what we did with the A14 to A14X we also made with the M1. Let's have a look at the new iMac." Would fit quite well, the iMac would also get all the attention of the press now, and the WWDC would be the date where the new 14/16" MacBook Pros could shine.
It could also very well be the new Apple Display and not the new iMac, but I would rule that out because the news that Apple has started early development of a lower priced monitor is just 3 months old. Although the cooling solution is a step down from the XDR, I would say it's too capable for a "simple, lower priced monitor", but I could be wrong (and also the source on the news could be too).

I think it's highly likely that this is the new iMac, and if these are screenshots of the introduction video, that means that such a video already exists in Cupertino, which gives me a bit of hope that we could see the new iMac on Tuesday.
What do you think?

Hopefully something very similar to this is in the event. Only a few more days to wait now!

Yeah, I know I have to keep my expectations down, but if they ship something like this, I'll be more than happy.

Wow good find! If this is legit it does give us some clues about what to expect from the new iMac. Assuming this is real, we can also (loosely) assume the following:

1. Judging by the size of the screen in comparison to the stand, this appears to the 24" version. This could mean nothing at all... or it could mean that the 24" will come first and we will get the 32" iMac Pro later on.

2. The amount of cooling going into this thing means this could be the first device we see the more powerful M1-X (or whatever it will be called).

3. To go along with point #2, the amount of cooling could also point to a possible discrete graphics card (perhaps this may be an optional thing)

4. Judging by the speakers (and what we have seen from the iPad and iPhone) this iMac probably supports some form of Dolby Atmos

5. If point #4 is correct, then it should be safe to assume that this iMac will also be HDR compliant (at least 1000 nits of brightness for highlights)

Lots of assumptions here and of course the bigger assumption that this picture is legit in the first place but if these assumptions are correct... we have a monster of an upgrade on our hands. This will also give us clues about what to expect from the new MacBook Pros.

doubtful Apple would have cables hanging from the sides like that, their attention to aesthetics is too high for anything coming out the sides.

also given how little thermal cooling the m chips require, requiring that many fans is also highly highly doubtful

Here you go. Hopefully it shows up.

If this is legit it seems to be some sort of slide with an exploded view. I’m 50/50 on how legit it is. What does seem halfway convincing is that the style of these renderings does match up to things Apple has done in the past. I believe they showed something like this for the Mac Pro and MacBook Pros when they were announced to show the cooling mechanisms and to highlight special parts.

he also said this "if the iMac does indeed get launched next week, that's going to be a big deal."

haven't seen any other comments on this, but if these renders turn out to be legit for the larger iMac, it would seem Apple will have removed the user-accessible memory compartment. (Was able to save a decent amount of $$ adding aftermarket ram on my 2017 iMac and it would be unfortunate to not have the ability to do that w/ the upcoming model. Guess I'm not surprised.)

Thank you terminator-jq for images. Unfortunately this isn’t a leak, it is a concept by Khahn Design from late last year. It is a very nice design. Those slots on the side are for user replaceable SSDs and RAM, not vents.

Awesome detective work! Thanks for clearing that up. Darn I was kinda hoping these would be real though. The Mac transition needs to keep moving lol! Hopefully we will get something on Tuesday though...

It woulda been more fun if you had trolled us and told us you had obtained more images from an inside source. We would’ve all believed it. 😄

I think the inside doesn't look realistic when compared to a real device. And also the outside just feels off to me when compared to official Apple design.

Well, they should still put something out like this. As for a possible mid-market standalone display, I’ve outlined some ideas for pricing here.
