When I synch my gen 1 iPhone, information on the Summary tab reveals that it is operating with software version 1.1.4 and informs me that, "Your iPhone software is up to date. iTunes will automatically check for an update again on (tomorrow's date)"

Should'nt there be software updates available in case I want to change from 1.1.4?

Yes, I have internet access on this computer. Should I try to grab the update "manually" with iTunes?

i got a better idea search for the 2.2 firmware through google

1) save it to a desired location on your computer

2) go to itunes and on the ipod/iphone info screen hold shift and click "update

3A) find the downloaded ISP it might give you an error saying it cant read the ipod/iphone

3B) if that happens shift click restore and it will install the 2.2 firmware free of charge.

4) enjoy you new free updated iphone/ipod
