Update GM to Official?

The "official" version is the one you are using right now.
If you want to pay for it however, you will need a machine running 10.6.8 to download it from the App Store.
Seeing that you are a developer having the GM, you don't need to pay for the new release do you?

You wont need to buy Lion as the GM is the final version. Only Developers are meant to have the GM anyway and they pay a fee each year, if you have downloaded the GM off a torrent you are basically pirating the software.
Many people are saying this isn't the 'official version', as there are still some small bugs. As I am going to buy it anyway for my MBP I was just wondering if I would have to downgrade.
Also one more question, will the GM have the same updates as the 'official version'? e.g. 10.7.1

The people saying it's not the official version are definitely out numbered by the people who know what they're talking about - Lion GM is the exact same build that will be released to the public in a week or so, unless a show-stopping bug pops up, which you would think would have been spotted by now?
Yes there are still some small bugs, that's natural. These will be fixed in 10.7.1 & 10.7.2 hopefully.
If you are a licensed developer like you say you are, you would know that you don't have to buy Lion when you have already been given the final build as part of your program.
There are certainly some bugs in the GM version but that doesn't mean that Apple won't ship it like this. Every software has bugs and there is no way someone can expect to ship an OS without any bugs. Apple will try to solve all bugs with subsequent releases of Lion, but unless a big bug is found (called showstopper), then Apple will release the current build to the market.
Are you saying that someone running Lion GM won't be able to download and pay for Lion on the App Store? For example, if the GM had been installed because of impatience, and a user wanted to go 'legit' when the official release happens.MacBookPro13";12879793 said:

I don't know if you will be able to use Lion GM to download Lion from the App Store or not but you can definitely re-install Snow Leopard and download it on that.
In order to re-install Lion in the future using the recovery partition, you are going to have bought Lion or have a developer account in order to continue through the process.
Golden master is the code that is sent to the DVD duplication plant. With Lion GM is interesting: Does Apple duplicate one single DVD or is everything going to be digital? If everything is digital, the term Golden master is meaningless.
It has almost never happened that a GM has been recalled because of the DVD duplication costs.
The bugs should have been fixed in the release candidate stage of OSX. OSX 10.7 is a rushed product. This is Apples Vista.
Lion deletes itself after the upgrade process from 10.6 to 10.7 is complete. To reinstall 10.7, you must boot from the recovery partition. SInce you don't have Lion anywhere on the computer locally, it checks to see if you have installed it from the Mac App Store previously on the machine and if you have, it'll begin to download Lion, again (all 4GB of it).
Sucks ass, I know. Do yourself a favour, make a Lion USB drive.

Shompa, there was one IOS that when to GM2, I think it was late last year or early this year. But like you said, it is very very rare.
I installed my Lion off a USB drive, turns out I won't be formatting it after all
+1 my Air only has 128 as it is. no room for that.
FYI .. every person that paid for the developer program can download the final release version for free too.
Of course it is? Don't be so sure. I'm betting there will be no restore media anymore. Restore partition only.
I'm betting the software (or at least the restore software) will be included on a USB key similar to the Macbook Air.
Hard Drives die. Mac Pro users install new drives all the time. You can't leave your customer with an OS install sitting on volatile media.
