Update iOS 9.02 to iOS 10

I have a iPhone 6s Plus with 9.02 I was keeping that in case I wanted to ever JB but I got an awesome deal on an apple sport watch but it won't let me pair without updating to 10. Is there any way around this or is it not worth it in order to have an Apple Watch? I really wanted to stay on 9.02

Don't do it... Go to 9.3.5 by downloading the ipsw at ipsw.me and do a shift upgrade in itunes

What do you mean? So the only way I can use the Apple watch is updating to 10.0.2? If I do update will I be able to keep my JB iPad on 9.0.2 and handbrake and all that will still work with the iPhone 6s Plus? I hate Apple why do they make us update to use the Apple Watch?
