Update. iPhone 6 problems (Touch ID and iOS update)

So I bought an iPhone 6 from a friend and was setting it up. I get to the Touch ID set up and get an error message. Did it about 3 or 4 times. No luck. So I skip the Touch ID set keep going. I finish the set up and ask if I want to update to 9.2.1. I click update and I keep getting an error message. Is there anything I can do to fix the update error and will replacing the home button fix the Touch ID ?

Update: so I replaced the screen and battery and phone worked fine. But never got the Touch ID to work. Now I have a new problem the screen all of the sudden went dim and won't get bright

What the h*** happened to that iPhone 6? Are you sure it is still operating 100%?

Yeah it still works.. Just having the problems stated in the post. Only paid 40 bucks for the phone and it's carrier unlocked. I think I got a deal on it. What do y'all think. Just ordered an new complete screen and new battery for it.

I think the components for Touch ID are probably screwed up somehow. Bet it's related to how those cracks in your screen got there.

The controversy over Error 53 has died down somewhat because Apple has released an update to fix the bricking that occurs when certain non-OEM parts (such as a new LCD screen) are installed and an update is applied.

But, you should still be aware since you intend to replace things yourself…

When I hit my iPhone this past Christmas I did the Touch ID about 10 times. I figured it was just making sure, taking as many samples as possible. I've never had a problem with it since the initial set up. Maybe 3-4 times isn't enough?? When I did it it was confusing as it seemed like each time didn't work. I think it was taking as many samples as needed.

Because of my work i've had to get electronically finger printed a lot. There are a lot of errors that occur. I've had to do a lot more than 3-4 or even 10 on a few occasions.

Restore as new by putting it into dfu and restoring it using iTunes. You will lose any jailbreak you already have.

Also, You can't update like you are showing if the iPhone is jailbroken.

In waiting for the part to get here so I can try to see if it will work.. But it's not jailbroken. I just got the screen today still waiting for the battery to get here
