Update Oddity

Greetings. I'd like to throw this out there to see if anyone can offer any wisdom.

As the below thumbnails will illustrate, I have four available app updates. Interestingly, when I search for Words With Friends in the app store (WWF is an app that I have installed), the Get button is replaced by an Update button, meaning there is an update available for WWF.

Now, things get really interesting. You'll notice that none of my available app updates are for WWF.

PS: I tapped on Insert, then I tapped on thumbnail, but the forum went ahead and posted full-sized images of my screenshots. I'm unsure why that happened.

That's normal. It's the new gradual rollout mechanism that developers can choose to use. That way, it won't actively bring up the update for you yet (it will in a few days). But if you want to force it, you can go to the app page and upgrade from there. It's to avoid the entire user base from updating at the same time, and being able to handle any bugs that come up in an easier way.
