So friday afternoon a supervisor contacted me and said that my MBA was delivered. When I got home, it was not there. The pre-authorized signature was still taped to the front door. I called the supervisor for Apple back on the next day (sat) he apologized because he was confused about the iPod nano that was delivered to me the day before. Fedex advised him to submit a claim. Saturday afternoon, the supervisor for apple called me and offered to upgrade my 13" 1.86 4 128, to a 13" 2.13 2 256. He said that I would have to pay for the ram in which I had no problem what so ever. He built the computer for me online. I went to the local apple store and asked the manager if I could buy the max'd our MBA and return the one I will be getting next week. He said as long as I don't open it there wouldn't be a problem. So I am typing from my max'd out MBA right now. The first thing I did was run geekbench - it scored 3048. Just for curiosity, I tracked the package that went missing for 3 days, its now been located. Apple has intercepted it. Very happy customer again!!! Sometimes it pays to get upset!

Are you sure they aren't going to tie the serial number to the receipt? Sounds like you'll be returning the lower cost item, and only be getting back the lower amount you paid for that laptop since the serial number is clearly tied to the amount you paid.

I will never receive the lower cost item because Apple intercepted that item. I will be getting the exact same computer from the online store as I did from the Apple Store. When the online store item comes in next week, I will take that item straight to the retail store unopened for a full refund. I already got the approval from the manager of the online store, as well as the retail store.

So, I guess it really wasn't stolen...just went off the grid for a few days as sometimes happens.

Everyone from the other thread accepts your apology.

Apology for what? I was relaying what the people from Memphis told me.
