Hello, I recently made the mistake of updating my mp 5.1 with a RX6600 using OCLP to Sequoia. I didn't know it was not compatible.

Now I can't access the operating system after bootscreen.

There's no way to use that GPU, right? I thought about using my old RX560 (which I think should work) to access the system, rescue my files and downgrade to Monterey. As I have seen, it is necessary to erase the entire hard drive to install a previous system.

Do you think this is a good idea or is there any other solution? thank you.

Your diagnosis is correct. That's about the only path you can go. Since those new GPU's will not work, the only thing you can run are those older Polaris GPU versions (RX 5XX/Vega 56/64/VII). That's about the highest you can go and it was exactly the reason why I did sell my real great AMD 6800XT dual slot card and replaced it with the Vega VII Pro.
Since you have a RX560 you should be able to do as you described it in your comments. Did it work for you ??

Thanks for answering. Finally swapped the GPU and it works fine. I think I'm going to stick with the combination of RX560 and Sequoia. My only problem now is that I can't have 144hz on my screen, it only leaves me with 60hz. Is it possible that it is due to having a less powerful GPU than my previous RX6600?

Usually the this depends on settings, drivers, ports on the GPU and most of all your screen. Since it obviously did work in the past, I would option for the ports and its standard on your GPU. See if you can check your port standards on your RX6600. Did it have a Display Port 1.4 and see if you have a lower grade port on your current RX560. Did you change to a HDMI cable? Those ports have all different Versions (1.0 / 1.1 / 1.4. ....) and can perform differently as well as the used cables. Some GPUs and screens need better cables and port combinations with higher grade functionalities as well.
In my past I always avoided to use HDMI because DisplayPort usually provided higher grade connections. That has changed in the last years. Check all those factors and you may figure out the culprit.
