Hi. I can’t decide wether I want to update to iOS 10 now on my iPhone 6 or should I just wait for Friday in which I will receive my iPhone 7 Plus 128GB Matte Black pre installed with iOS 10 and sort of enjoy the experience a bit more?

What do you think? If this is your scenario too, what will you be doing?

I upgrade to the newest phone every year and as such, the increase in experience for me is a bit tempered compared to others coming from 2 or 3 year old phones (or older). As such, experiencing the new iOS out of the box adds to the new experience for me.

If you don't update now and deiced to backup & restore using iTunes, your iPhone 7 won't read the backup file as its using a older version of iOS.

Incorrect.

Your iP7 with the newer iOS pre-installed will restore just fine from iOS 9.x

If you were trying to restore an iOS 10 backup to an iOS 9 device, it wouldn't work.

Not true! You can easily restore from an older backup.

Weird, it happened to me.

Screw it. After reading this thread I decided to upgrade to iOS10. I can enjoy some new changes now until my 7+ arrives in 3 days :)

So will I be able to restore from a backup via iCloud from 9.3.5?

Just Do It. I upgraded my 6 Plus. No issues. Got all my friends that are on IPhones to update as well. Having a blast with IMessage.

I always do it before hand so when my new phone comes im already familiar with the new OS.

So backups from iOS 9 would work? I used to think backups had to be from the same iOS.
