So a long time ago, (still on iOS 4) I took some pictures with my iPhone and then it would freeze and I'd have to reset and the picture would not be in my Photos app. This happened several times and I was frustrated because a lot of the pictures I took were good shots. This problem stopped after I updated to 5.0.

However, today, when I updated to 5.1, and I checked my Photos app, there were a bunch of strange photos in there and then I realized I had taken these photos a long time ago! And now they were all in my Photos app again. Anyone know what went on?

I'm just happy this happened and wondered if anyone else had something similar happen.

I'm guessing now you have the active Photo Stream, which has restored your old photos probably taken somewhere around the release of iOS5 (and stored in iCloud at that time). If you disabled iCloud Photo Stream after that, now that there's iOS5.1, and a more friendly Photo Stream, you got your old photos restored.

I'm reading a lot about the issues with Photo Stream, but I bought and downloaded Apple's newest app iPhoto and... well, it's a dramatic difference from the stock Photo app. I truly believe it's actually part of the update (that we have to buy), but it's capabilities are huge - including easy deletion, editing, etc.
