Is it a software update or a whole new Nano? So will last year's iPod Nanos not have the new clock faces? Or will there be an update for it that has all the new goodies?

I just hope u can have the new UI with a firmware update.

I don't see physically why it can't... but the Classics never got updated with the new UIs... so I am hoping they don't screw us 2010 iPod Nano owners over.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Yes you can

Yep, updated both mine and my wife's 6th Gen Nanos to v1.2 and got the Nike+, option to do large icons and all the new watch faces. Incidentally, I noticed that some of the new watch faces are color coordinated to match the color of the Nano. Wife's is pink and some of the faces are pink, while mine is red and the same watch faces are red on mine. Kinda of a cool incidental finding.

It's just software. I updated my old nano tonight and got all of the features as far as I can tell.

Got it thanks!

I posted this an hour after the announcement this morning and didn't see any update links... so I was curious if it was software or hardware at the time.

sweet so i can update my ipod nano 6th with the new clock faces??!? my ipod nano is more of a watch than a music player :D il update it when i get home

I'm very happy to see that Apple allowed us to simply update the software to get the new features. Very nice surprise actually, since I felt sure they'd try to milk more money out of us. :)
