I downloaded 3.1.2 from Itunes after updated Itunes. I installed it and then restored. Now my Iphone says that I need an approved sim to activate! I am with Tmobile! I tried blackra1n a handful of times as instructed with no luck! help me!

I don't know the first thing about blackrain, but if I were you I'd try the iphone dev team tools. I just upgraded my gfriends 2g iPhone on tmobile, and all is well. I'm on a mac, so I used PwnageTool to create a new IPSW and restore the iPhone. But I feel confident QuickPwn on windows would do a similar job.

QuickPwn is an outdated tool which does not work with 3.1.x. Blackra1n should work fine. Try running blackra1n again. If that doesn't work, then you may want to use iRecovery to kick you out of Recovery Mode. Tutorial here.

Found this specific step by step guide(in about 30 seconds I might add) to jb & unlocking the 2G on 3.1.2 using blackra1n & bootneuter .
