We sincerely apologize for the frustration this issue has caused for our users.
Our developers were able to narrow down the source of the issue and release a fix within 48 hours. The cause of the issue was a conflict between the latest update for OS X 10.11.3 and our Internet Protection Module (ver 1226.6). We released an update for our module (1226.7) earlier this morning (January 22, 2016), which fixes the issue.
For those still experiencing this issue, no action is required on your part. The update will be pushed through automatically, when ESET checks for updates within an hour. If you don't want to wait you can manually push the update by clearing the update cache and updating the virus signature database. Instructions for that are here:
http://support.eset.com/kb3173/.
For those who have uninstalled ESET Cyber Security or ESET Cyber Security Pro, reinstalling will push that fixed update through during the activation process.
Again, we are sorry for the disruption this caused and we are working diligently to put processes in place to prevent a future occurrence like this. Thank you for your patience and for choosing ESET as your security software provider.
