Getting half or LESS than half battery life than the day before doing the EXACT same stuff.

A. anybody else?

B. is this the newest update?

C. what can I do before taking to Apple, exactly how do I do it please and will a restore or whatever cause me to lose apps or settings or what do I lose?

Dammit this is frustrating.

Man, iOS 11 has been awesome, hasn’t it?? Lol.
Are you on the same one, did you notice a reduction in battery? Is this being talked about already?

I just did the hard reset for my X..press and quickly release volume up, then the same volume down, then hold down the button right side of phone till it resets.

If this wont work, then I have to do a complete reset? I dont remember, now I have the cloud that I pay for each month and everything is on the cloud, so I dont have to do ANYTHING other than a backup, right?

Then what? Will I lose the apps I already have on the phone or will they be there but I have to sign in again, etc?

Just did HARD reset, no improvement.

The part I DONT understand is I have everything on the cloud or do I? When I got this new X all I did was turn it on and it loaded all the same apps that were on my 6s it was replacing, was it using the 6s as a source or was it using the cloud that I pay for monthly?

What version did you update from?

Something to keep in mind is that usually the first day or two after an update aren't the best indicators of actual battery life.

What device? And is that mostly on WiFi or cellular?

I dont know which version I updated from, how can I find that?

Right now I have itunes on my PC and Apple is about to re install 11.4.1 onto my phone and what I want to know is will I lose anything, at all, apps, settings, anything?

I have iCloud, plenty of room and everything is backed up onto iCloud and I did a backup...

?

Yesterday my PC connection timed out while i was downloading whatever it was onto iTunes onto PC, if that happens while I am downloading IOS or 11.4.1 later today onto my iPhone can that permanently mess my phone up? My speed is 150/10 and there is NO interruption at all in my internet service or there wasnt when that happened.

And another question, lets say my 11.4.1 is corrupted or it is just a bad update by Apple, in BOTH of those cases does the problem it is causing disappear when the next update is installed assuming the next update is OK? Or can something on it linger?

I never had the bad 11.4 drain and neither did my wife’s. It seems like every update on iOS or Android is immediately followed by people saying it ruined their battery life. Literally every single update for the last 6 or more years has ruined someone’s battery life.

On my iphone 7 my battery took a pretty good hit but in a couple of days it was much better, so maybe same for you. Running dev ios 12 now and battery is outstanding so better days are coming. ;)

That is why I am wondering if I should hold off doing the fresh install, taking it back to brand new status, etc. Apple was walking me thru it and they took a complete picture of my phone, so to speak, so that eventually I could get it back to normal but for a few days after doing the install I would only have basic functions and apps at which time they would test the battery.

It is NOT the battery, I mean the operating system.

I assume THEIR interpretation of appropriate battery life and mine or a consumer will differ in that this might all be a waste of time, unless they actually found something, but then what? Do I get a new phone?

That’s insane

I have been seeing outstanding battery performance since the purchase of my Product Red iPhone in April. I was getting 11-11.5 hours of Usage time per full charge and since updating to 11.4.1 I have gained an hour, averaging 12.5 hours. Now, to be fair, I often seeing myself getting 2.5 hours before the battery drops below 90% but I attribute that to iPhone's often sitting at 100%, 99% for longer periods of time before starting to deplete. I assure you he, just like I, am not getting 2.5 hours of Usage per every 10% of battery drop. Nobody gets upwards of or even close to 20 hours of Usage/Screen time per 100% charge of their battery. But, 12-13 hours should be realistic if you lucked out in getting a top notch battery. For the record, my battery health shows as 100% after my first 4 plus months of ownership.

Yeah, never in my life and I have owned multiple iPhones. Oh well, I just assume getting approximately 15% per hour of use to be normal for me and I dont expect to ever get better. Thanks.

I understand. I have only owned the Plus iPhone's since they came out and would be incredibly unhappy and in fact returning my device if I only got 6.5 hours of Usage per full charge. If I had the non Plus devices I would still expect much better however if it works for you and you are happy with your device that is all that matters. At the end of the day, it's only a phone.

At the same time, we spend large sums of money on our phones so I do expect top notch performance out of my device. If it's in the ballpark I don't sweat it but if it's nowhere near what it should be then I look for a resolution whether it may be updates or device return and replacement. I have just learned, over time, that though I am a BIG tech geek in the grand scheme of things its only tech. Much bigger things to sweat over in life.

You are saying "plus" the X doesnt come in a plus, I had a 6S plus but same battery life with that. I have a X

Yeah I have had Plus phones, not the X - didn't realize this was posted under the X. Figured it was a general post on 11.4.1. Oops.

Don't quote me but one would think the X should have better usage times than 6-6.5 hours though.
