Just updated my iPhone SE 64gb this morning & its deleted around 5000 of 7500 photos ! They still show on my Mac & iPad, but absolutely not there on my phone. Worst bug I've had yet with an update. I'd be interested if i'm the only one with this issue? I'm a photographer so these aren't just 1000's of phone selfies that have gone missing . I mean I have the originals in lightroom, but its destroyed all my synced albums etc...Slightly worrying this can happen...

I would start by making sure Photos is turned on in your iCloud settings. If it is, try signing out of iCloud and signing back in. Might kick off the download.
If that doesn't work try restoring from a backup. If that fails, restore and set up as new then sign in to iCloud and make sure Photos is enabled. Last resort would be to contact Apple.
I lost photos as well.. and the update deleted also all my music.
Unfortunately, the resting photos got completely other timestamps!

It made it even worse: there have been even more photos deleted!
