Updated to 5.5 Carrier file, MMS works well, BUT now my WiFi reception is terrible??

Now, it could be a coincidence, but a pretty big one if so. In my house I always have a strong link to my wireless N router, but shortly after keeping 3.0.1, and manually installing the official 5.5 carrier file, my wifi reception which had always been basically perfect anywhere inside my house, has become horrible.

I'm wondering how on earth updating the carrier file could do this, and also if anybody has developed wifi reception issues. Thanks.
